A story made at sea

We're glad you're taking a moment to learn about us. We thought it would be helpful for you to know a little more about who we are, how we met and what we bring to the table. Well...quite literally, since most of our experiences are centered around food.

Our names are Miguel and Miles – Miguel is the Yacht Captain and Miles is the Hospitality Director who handles the culinary and service for the charters. We are a rooted in a passion for the water as we both grew up learning boating (Miles) and sailing (Miguel) from our dads. Our mothers both taught us hospitality and it was our grandmothers who taught us about the importance of food and family. Today, our mothers, Conception (Miguel) named for the Immaculate Conception, a native Spaniard and Dana (Miles), a native Texan, have taught us their favorite recipes and traditions for us to share with you. We hope you enjoy a mix of traditions from Texas and Spain aboard our classic 44' Gulfstar named - Conception.

Since he was a little boy Miguel has been sailing, originally a part of the Real Sailing Club in the Canary Islands where he was involved in junior sailing. His father has sailed across the Atlantic solo on three occasions. Miguel holds a bachelor's in international economics from George Washington University and a master's in global energy resource management from Columbia University. Miguel grew up working at his father's hospitality company in the Canary Islands and eventually worked in the Oil & Gas industry following college, which led him eventually to Texas. Miguel has been enlisted in the United States armed forces and continues to serve as a reservist in the USCG. 

For Miles, his father worked in culinary during college and his mother had an early career as a Director of Sales in the hotel industry. Miles holds a bachelor's in business administration from Georgia State University. Miles has always had a career in hospitality including leading front and back-of-house roles in national restaurant chains, boutique hotels and upscale restaurants. He splits his time as a Service Captain at a Michelin-recommended restaurant in Houston. Miles is also an ordained minister offering Christian wedding ceremonies and vow renewals for both our micro-weddings and modern elopements.

The two of us met while on the water which was pure kismet, we have been supporting each other's passion for the water including being the best of friends. We both wish to recognize our incredible moms - Conception who now serves as our Culinary Director and Dana who serves as our Director of Sails. We're very proud of our mothers and hope you get the opportunity to experience our family's traditions while aboard sailing with us, their sons!
